Paris Saint-Germain are the latest team to win a Ligue 1 title, and their success is not without precedent. In this article, we take a look at the players who led their teams to glory in Ligue 1 this season.
Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is one of the most decorated players in world football. He has won numerous trophies, including four Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France trophies and two Champions League titles. He also helped Brazil to win the Copa America in 2015.
Neymar began his career at Santos, before moving to Barcelona in 2013. He made his PSG debut that year and helped the club win their first Ligue 1 title in over a decade. Neymar went on to become one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe and was integral to PSG’s success in acquiring major honours.
In 2018, Neymar won his fourth Ligue 1 title with PSG and helped the club reach the final of the Champions League for the first time. He also played a key role in Brazil’s victory at the Copa America.
Mbappe
Paris Saint-Germain have a long and illustrious history, with many great players contributing to their success. However, one player has stood out above the rest, and that player is Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe was born in France, and started his career at Monaco. He quickly became a key player for the club, and helped them win Ligue 1 in 2016. He then moved to PSG in 2017, and has continued to be a key part of the team’s success.
In his first season at PSG, Mbappe helped them win the Ligue 1 title. They then went on to win the Coupe de France and the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first team to do so in consecutive seasons. Mbappe was also named Ligue 1 Player of the Year.
This year, Mbappe has continued to be a dominant force for PSG. He has scored 19 goals in all competitions so far this season, which is more than any other player in Europe. He has also helped lead PSG to the top of the French league table, and they are currently favourites to win the championship.

PSG’s Uruguay international striker, Edinson Cavani, is one of the most in-demand players in Europe. Ronaldo
It is difficult to choose just one player from any PSG team that has led their team to glory, as they have been so successful since the club’s formation in the early 1990s. However, if we narrow it down to just Ronaldo, the Portuguese forward, then it would be easy to make a case for him.
Ronaldo first came to prominence at Sporting Lisbon in the early 1990s, and was quickly recognised as one of the best young players in Europe. He made his senior international debut for Portugal in 1996 and went on to win numerous awards at both club and international level.
In 2003, he signed for Manchester United and helped them win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a Champions League. He then moved to Real Madrid in 2009 and won another La Liga title and two Spanish Cups. However, it was his time at Juventus where he truly became a legend.
During his three seasons with Juventus (2011-2013), Ronaldo scored 125 goals in all competitions – an absolutely astonishing tally for any player. Suarez
One of the most prolific strikers in world football, Luis Suarez has led his team to glory on more than one occasion.
Born in October 1987, Suarez started playing football at a young age with local side Nacional de Uruguay. He made his professional debut in 2007 before joining Liverpool in 2011.
Suarez quickly became one of the most dangerous forwards in the Premier League, scoring 38 goals in his first season and helping Liverpool win the title. 2013, he was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year and helped Liverpool reach the Champions League final.
In 2014, Suarez joined Barcelona and helped them win La Liga and the Copa Del Rey. In 2016, he helped Barcelona win La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup. He was also named FIFA World Player of the Year.
Suarez is one of the most successful strikers in world football and is sure to lead PSG to glory this season.
Coutinho
There is no single player more responsible for PSG’s 2017/2018 Ligue 1 title than Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian playmaker, who joined the French team from Barcelona in January 2018, racked up an impressive tally of 35 goals and 12 assists in all competitions during his two seasons at Parc des Princes.
Coutinho was a driving force behind PSG’s journey to the top of France’s top division, helping them to clinch the title in both their debut season and this year. His magical skills, coupled with the peerless attacking work of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, saw PSG score an incredible 226 goals in all competitions this season – a record that still stands.
